Stojkovic, also a member of the Serbian Council for National Minorities, said that the Ministry of Justice, and he personally too, will do everything possible to fulfil the constitutional and legal obligations of respecting national minorities, adding that all measures will be taken to ensure that the principle of having a bilingual judiciary is respected.
He said that when approving proposed candidates for judges, special attention will be given to the proportional participation of national minority representatives in the bodies of the justice system throughout the multinational region of Vojvodina.
Korhec said that respecting the principle of having a bilingual judiciary will contribute to the strengthening of the belief of citizens in the justice system and recommended the systemisation of the appointment of judges should envisage work places for bilingual court interpreters, forensic expert, and typists.
Participants in the meeting concluded that it is essential to secure conditions for receiving a sufficient number of trainees belonging to national minorities, thus ensuring that there are in place the competent personnel needed to carry out the functions of Vojvodina’s judiciary in the future.
