Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and President of Republika Srpska Dragan Cavic supported in today’s talks the common, principled position that international agreements and resolutions based on key principles of international law, such as the Dayton Agreement and UN Security Council Resolution 1244, should be respected in full.
President of Republika Srpska Dragan Cavic said that he fully supports the principles that Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica presented at a recent session of the UN Security Council, adding that the issues in question are the fundamental principles of international law, above all the principle of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states in the region.
Participants in the talks said that it is unimaginable that any solution be imposed on a democratic state and result in the change of internationally recognised borders against its will.
Kostunica and Cavic expressed clear and full support for respecting the Dayton Agreement and the fundamental principles of international law, upon which this agreement is based. Furthermore Serbia-Montenegro, as guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, is making efforts towards safeguarding and strengthening regional stability, as well as embarking on all-inclusive cooperation with Bosnia-Herzegovina as a sovereign state and Republika Srpska as a constitutional entity within Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Participants in the talks expressed mutual satisfaction and support for each other concerning the upcoming talks that Serbia-Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina are about to begin with the EU on concluding the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA).
