A delegation of the Serbian Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection, led by Director of the Administration for Environmental Protection Miroslav Nikcevic has reached an agreement with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on joint activities with the aim to improve institutional capacities in this field.
The agreed projects will be implemented through a series of seminars in Serbia-Montenegro in areas of particular interest from the point of view of the improvement of environmental quality, such hazardous waste management, incident management in chemical and related industries, and inspection affairs, the ministry said in a statement today.
Possibilities of cooperation with American experts, with the aim to improve the work of the newly set up Serbian Agency for Environmental Protection were also discussed at a meeting with EPA, reads the statement.
The ministry’s delegation also met with representatives of the World Bank to discuss the implementation of current and future programmes as well as projects closely related to the improvement of regulations in the field of environmental protection and those aiming to reduce pollution of water and soil in the Danube basin.
