Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic said today that next week seven Serbian producers of fruit, meat, milk and animal feed will receive permits for export to the Russian market.
After the meeting with Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, Nedimovic explained that the agreement between Serbia and the Eurasian Union enters into force on 10 July, and we have an expanded list of products in relation to the previous agreement and the possibility of duty-free export of unlimited quantities of sheep and goat cheese and fruit brandy.
Nedimovic pointed out that the exchange with Russia has increased five times in the last ten years, and last year it reached $480 million, with Serbia having a surplus of more than $250 million.
We are open for further development of trade relations, because both sides must be satisfied, the Minister concluded.
Patrushev pointed out that Serbia is an important strategic partner for Russia and that the two countries are actively cooperating in a wide range of issues, including agriculture, in which they have a permanent growth of trade, which exceeded $500 million last year.
He added that the new impetus for that cooperation will be the beginning of the implementation of the agreement between Serbia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
