Nedimovic, who is on a visit to the United Arab Emirates together with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, told reporters that this country covers only 25 percent of its needs with its own production.
Nedimovic said that he met today with the Minister of Agriculture of the UAE, with whom he spoke about the directions in which agriculture will move after the coronavirus pandemic.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the most wanted Serbian product in the UAE are apples, which have been absolutely dominating over the past few years because we met the special requirements and found our place on the market of the UAE and Gulf countries.
He specified that the colleagues from the UAE offered to be a logistic hub for the export of Serbia's products to the richest countries of the Persian Gulf – Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
In addition to apples, other products that are in demand are honey products, hard cheeses, wine, pasta, corn and animal feed. Last year Serbia exported animal feed and pet food worth $125 million.
Nedimovic stated that investments from the UAE has so far brought approximately $400 million to Serbia.
