Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with a Microsoft delegation headed by the company’s Southeast Europe General Manager, Christopher Brennan, who said that Serbia has great potentials in the information technology (IT) industry, for which reason the world’s biggest software company has decided to open a development centre in Belgrade.
Aside from Serbia, Microsoft has development centres in the United States, China, and India only, according to Brennan.
Kostunica said that the opening of the centre is very important for generations of Serbian IT experts, who will be given the opportunity and good working conditions to stay in their own country.
Microsoft Serbia-Montenegro Manager Dejan Cvetkovic said that the opening of such a centre puts Serbia at the heart of the world technology map and he added that other companies should follow in Microsoft’s footsteps.
Also attending the meeting were Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic, while Microsoft’s delegation included East Europe Chief Technology Officer Stephen McGibbon and Head of the Belgrade Development Centre Bodin Dresevic.
