Redirecting EU assistance to pandemic relief

The Serbian government adopted today a Conclusion on the adoption of the text of Amendment 2 to the Financial Agreement between the European Commission, on behalf of the European Union, and the Republic of Serbia represented by the Serbian government, for the 2015 Annual IPA Action Programme.

The amendments to this financing agreement will enable the unspent funds intended for budget support in the field of public administration reform, in the amount of €18 million, to be redirected for overcoming the socio-economic consequences of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Serbian government will use these funds, whose payment is expected in 2021, in accordance with the needs and measures envisaged for the socio-economic recovery of the country.

The government also adopted an amended Decree on establishing a programme of financial support to agricultural producers through the purchase of market surplus of beef cattle in difficult economic conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This decree provides funds in the amount of RSD 236,000,000 for the purchase of market surplus of beef cattle. The right to financial support has a purchaser who buys beef cattle from agricultural producers registered in the Register of agricultural holdings.

A purchase of cattle with a minimum weight of 500 kilograms per head is proposed and the applications for financial support should be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management by 5 November of the current year.
