Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic stressed today during a meeting with Chairman of the Stability Pact Anti-Corruption Initiative Ugo Draetta that the Serbian government is firmly resolved to fight corruption. However, it is aware that that is a long process that requires the engagement of all state bodies.
Stojkovic said that it is very important that citizens also have become aware of the necessity of including the entire society and every individual in the fight against corruption. He added that judiciary office holders are also becoming aware of the necessity to confront corrupted individuals in the judiciary.
Ugo Dreatta, who is taking part in a two-day Conference on the fight against corruption, organised by the OSCE and the Ministry of Justice and held in Belgrade, said that all countries have the problem of corruption and that it will never be fully eradicated, but that the aim of the international community is to scale down the level of corruption and keep it under control.
Dreatta gave credit to the Serbian government, the Ministry of Justice and Minister Stojkovic for courage and concrete results in the fight against corruption, voiced hope that there will be more positive results soon and wished a lot of success in the painstaking and long-lasting confrontation with all forms of corruption in Serbia.
