Bill on diaspora census to be composed

The Ministry of Diaspora said today in a statement that members of the committee for the census of the diaspora and representatives of the Serbian Statistics Office have agreed to start composing a bill addressing a diaspora census. Experts from the Ministry of Diaspora and the Statistics Office will be engaged in the composition of the bill.
The purpose of the census, which will envelop Serbian nationals abroad and citizens with Serbian nationality and foreign citizenship, is to specify the actual number of Serbs living abroad, because the results of the 2002 census, according to which there are 414,000 Serbian immigrants in the world, is not in line with the actual situation.
On behalf of the committee for the census of the diaspora, Aleksandar Cotric, Miodrag Jaksic and Marko Lopusina attended the meeting, and Assistant Director Miroljub Kostic represented the Statistics Office.
