Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today that full responsibility of the Serbia-Montenegrin Ministry of Defence must be ascertained and that the smallest detail must be examined, regarding a contract worth €300 million.
“This matter must be cleared up and I will personally do everything I can in order to ascertain the full responsibility and to make each person responsible for his or her own actions. Life in Serbia today is much too difficult for anyone to have the right to spend a single dinar, let alone €300 million, unless it is truly necessary or in Serbia-Montenegro’s best interests.
“My attitude towards the army is well-known and both our soldiers and officers know this. We must have a modern and powerful army and we must preserve our military tradition and honour. That is our duty and the duty of the entire country. And that is why every harmful contract for the army is harmful for Serbia and every citizen.
“As far as the army’s interests and Serbia’s interests are concerned, we most certainly will not allow anyone to harm the army and the country concluding harmful contracts, even if that someone holds the highest positions in the Ministry of Defence”, reads the Prime Minister’s written statement.
