The Serbian government adopted today, at the proposal of the Ministry of Economy, the Industrial Policy Strategy from 2021 to 2030.
This document provides a new strategic framework for improving the competitiveness of the Serbian industry and improving its position on the international market.
The strategy has been developed with the donor support of the German Organisation for International Cooperation (GIZ), which supported the work of the expert team and the conduct of public-private dialogue with the assistance of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
The strategy stipulates comprehensive reform steps in the field of industrial development and covers much of the economic activity, with particular emphasis on manufacturing.
During the development of the strategy, cooperation was established with all relevant stakeholders, including representatives of industry, science, government and civil society.
The vision of the strategy is an open, regionally and globally competitive, investment-active, educated, innovative and digitally transformed industry of Serbia that strongly supports economic growth and the raising of the quality of life of its citizens.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on this occasion that just like until now, the central part of this new industrial policy will be people and their knowledge and skills, as well as further investment in innovation, digitalisation, automatisation and infrastructure, in order to create an economy that is internationally competitive and capable to win in a new, global market competition.
The aim of the strategy is to increase the competitiveness of the industry of the Republic of Serbia - in particular, the competitive industry makes a significant contribution to high sustainable economic growth, measured by the growth rate of national GDP and a better quality of life for the citizens of Serbia, as measured by GDP per capita.
All measures in the strategy are in line with the existing programmes of the Serbian government and the activities of donor organisations (European Union, World Bank and all bilateral donors).
Particular focus will be on: digitalisation, innovation, the circular economy and all activities related to education and promotion.
