Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic spoke today with Secretary-General of the Muslim World League Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa about improving relations between our country and that organisation, which is one of the most influential factors among the countries of the Islamic world.

Ljajic made a plea to his interlocutor that the Muslim World League support our country's efforts to obtain observer status in the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, as this is of great importance not only for relations with the countries of the Islamic world, but for all Muslims living in Serbia.
The Deputy Prime Minister also called on the Muslim World League to consider building a cultural centre for inter-religious dialogue in Serbia.
During the meeting, Al-Issa emphasised the importance of Serbia as a multinational and multiconfessional state in inter-religious dialogue not only in regional, but also in broader international contexts.
He pointed out that throughout history the relations between Islam and Orthodoxy have been crucial for the development of religious tolerance among nations and states, and that these relations are extremely important today too.
