Serbian President Boris Tadic, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica
The talks, held in Belgrade, focused on the process of Serbia-Montenegro’s stabilisation and association with the EU, which has been intensified since the country received a positive Feasibility Study on EU accession.
The three officials agreed that maximum efforts must be made in the upcoming period in order to ensure that negotiations on a stabilisation and association agreement are successful and efficient.
It was also stressed that Serbia-Montenegro must use the upcoming period to facilitate the state union’s European integration. This issue must be put above all other issues in Serbia-Montenegro, particularly in light of a possible referendum in Montenegro.
After the positive Feasibility Study, talks on a stabilisation and association agreement top the agenda, which is Serbia-Montenegro’s and the EU’s most urgent and the most important interest.
Solana announced that he will meet with Serbia-Montenegrin officials again in September.
The talks also covered the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the participants stressed the importance of progress in the decentralisation process.
The importance of completing cooperation with the Hague tribunal was also pointed out at the meeting.
