The Serbian government adopted today the Bill on amendments to the Law on higher education, which enables students who enrolled at university prior to 10 September 2005 to complete their studies within the next two academic years.
Setting new deadlines for the completion of studies according to the curriculum, conditions and rules of study that were in place at the time of enrolment creates conditions for the students who did not manage to finish university by the end of the school year 2018/2019 to do so within the next two years.
The Bill on open investment funds with public offering was adopted at the session. The proposed law harmonises this area with European regulations, as well as with the conditions of the domestic capital market, which broadens the possibility of investing assets, achieving better diversification of risks, and thus greater investor protection.
The Bill on alternative investment funds was adopted, which stipulates that the Republic of Serbia shall regulate and secure the single market, the legal position of economic entities, the system of performing certain economic and other activities, the banking and foreign exchange system, property and obligation relations and the protection of all forms of property.
This legal solution will provide a greater degree of protection in case of risky investments of alternative investment funds, as well as a closer and more detailed definition of the rules that exist in relation to the companies managing these funds.
An additional reason for passing this law is the development of micro, small and medium-sized economic entities that are recognised as major actors on the market of the Republic of Serbia.
