First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today in London on the margins of the Global Media Freedom Conference, with State Minister for the Commonwealth and UN Secretary-General Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the recent visit of Lord Ahmad to Belgrade.
Lord Ahmad thanked Dacic for a strong statement of support he gave regarding the fight against sexual violence in conflicts.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs informed Lord Ahmad that Serbia is joining a joint statement by which the participating countries of the Global Media Freedom Conference express concern about global negative trends in the area of media freedom, as well as their readiness to actively contribute to the fight for independent and accountable journalism.
The two officials also noted that there is a mutual political will to exploit a positive momentum in bilateral relations, which Lord Ahmad believes will be kept regardless of who the future prime minister will be.
