First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Enzo Milanesi agreed today in Trieste that the political relations of the two countries are stable and very developed.
At the meeting, which was held on the margins of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI), the two officials confirmed the common interest to intensify political dialogue in the coming period through the realisation of bilateral visits at a high level, as well as through finding common interest in many areas.
Among them are the strengthening of regional cooperation, infrastructure integration, European integration, as well as security.
The interlocutors confirmed the desire to continue the political dialogue and intensify economic cooperation.
Dacic recalled that this year the jubilee of 140 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries is marked and ten years of strategic partnership.
He expressed his gratitude for the continued and unequivocal support of Italy, which is also the advocate of the enlargement of the European Union, in the process of European integration of Serbia and the Western Balkans region.
Dacic reiterated Serbia's interest in further improving economic cooperation with Italy, as one of the most developed areas of the overall relations of the two countries.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs informed Milanesi about the current situation in the region and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stressing that Serbia is committed to dialogue in spite of the unreasonable moves of Pristina.
Milanesi expressed his satisfaction with the overall level of bilateral cooperation with Serbia, which is taking place at a high level and without open issues.
