Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic and Minister of Water and Forests of Romania Ioan Denes signed today in Bucharest the Agreement on Cooperation in the Sustainable Management of Transboundary Waters.
The aim of the Agreement is cooperation in the area of sustainable management of transboundary waters for the purpose of amicable settlement of all issues (aspects) for which both sides are interested, as well as the creation of organisational, institutional and economic conditions for cooperation.
The above-mentioned document, signed almost 65 years ago, will in the first place, thanks to the good political relations between Serbia and Romania, enable significantly better control and management of all border watercourses.
The lack of this agreement in the past, due to unregulated relations, caused great damage during the flooding of the river, both economically and infrastructurally on large surfaces, including the border town of Jasa Tomic, which was completely devastated.
