Dacic pointed to the importance of continuous consideration of the situation in Kosovo at the Security Council meetings, that is, the importance of the presence of the UN Mission in the province, especially given the recent developments .
The discussion raised concerns over the complex political and security situation in Kosovo-Metohija, with a focus on the latest raid of Kosovo special forces in northern Kosovo and the inappropriate use of force not only against the Serb people, but also against members of the UN Mission staff.
On this occasion, the expectation was expressed that the Mission will continue to carry out its mandate in the future period in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1244.
It was also estimated that the upcoming Security Council session, or the Report that the UN Secretary General will submit on the occasion of UNMIK work, is an opportunity to consider all the problems that exist in Kosovo-Metohija.
The forthcoming session will also provide an opportunity for a review of the implementation of Resolution 1244, twenty years after its adoption, with which Tanin agreed, pointing out the importance of further investing efforts in finding a solution to the Kosovo issue.
