New trade status incentive for strengthening economy

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica expressed satisfaction after the US awarded Serbia-Montenegro the status of a favoured trading partner. He said that this decision was very important for the country’s economy and would greatly contribute to improving trade with the US.

According to the Serbian Prime Minister, the fact that the country was designated as a beneficiary developing country under the Generalised System of Preferences is truly important and good news. He emphasised that at this point it is very important for our business to be given an opportunity to considerably increase export to the US and contribute to the overall strengthening of the economy.
The Serbian government is fulfilling state and national priorities, and is strongly committed to creating conditions for the country and economy to be recognised and accepted as equal partners among the international community. We have recently had several good and significant news, the Serbian Prime Minister said and added that regarding state and national interests, we have to set party differences aside and continue to work together for the well-being of the country.
