Contract on construction of Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway signed

Belgrade, 19 December 2018

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic today signed a commercial contract for the design and construction of the first section of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway, from Sremska Raca to Kuzmin, worth €250 million.

Mihajlovic signed the contract at the Serbian government with President of the Turkish company “Tasyapi” Emrullah Turanli and Acting Director of the public road company “Putevi Srbije” Zoran Drobnjak.

She underlined on that occasion that there is no more important thing for our region than infrastructure connectivity.

The construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway is the beginning of a better connection between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, which will enable faster development of the region, and the task of politicians is to create conditions for citizens in our region to live better, Mihajlovic said.

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Turhan, who attended the signing of the contract, said that Turkey considers Serbia an important factor of stability in the region and that the agreement signed today is only the beginning when it comes to the improvement of relations between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said that the signing of the contract is the result of the best possible relations between the two countries, excellent personal relations of the presidents of the two countries, and of the existence of the trilateral commission of Serbia, Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
