Dacic met with representatives of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Belgrade, which included the ambassadors of Morocco, Egypt, France, Romania, Cyprus, Lebanon, Switzerland and Tunisia, the representative of the United Nations in Serbia, the head of the Council of Europe, the counsellors of Canada, Belgium, Congo, Guinea and Poland and the director of the French Institute in Belgrade.
Dacic expressed his gratitude to the ambassadors for their countries' support to the promotion of Serbia's status from observer to the status of an associate member in the International Organisation of the Francophonie at the 17th Summit of the Francophonie held on 11-12 October in Yerevan.
The First Deputy Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Belgrade, which is a practice in many countries in the world.
He emphasised that the formation of this group is an important initiative, bearing in mind that Serbia's interest is to spread the values of the International Organisation of the Francophonie in terms of improving linguistic and cultural diversity, the use of the French language and the strengthening of peace, democracy and human rights.
Ambassador of Morocco to Belgrade and President of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors Mohammed Amine Belhaj congratulated Dacic on behalf of the Group on the upgrading of Serbia’s status in the International Organisation of the Francophonie.
