On the occasion of signing the Memorandum, Mihajlovic pointed out that the modernization of infrastructure is a priority for the Government of Serbia, and thanks to the projects implemented in the past few years, we have been recognized as a country open to all investments that bring Serbia connecting with its neighbours, new knowledge and new technologies.
We expect this from this memorandum, which gives us the opportunity to connect with the best American companies that want to work in Serbia after the best European, Chinese, Russian and other companies, but also to share good practice with us in the field of preparation of projects and the making of studies and analyses that can contribute to better quality and greater efficiency of investments in infrastructure, Mihajlovic added.
The memorandum signed confirms the common interest of strengthening business relations between the two countries and promoting the participation of US companies in the Serbian infrastructure sector, with the support of relevant institutions, agencies and programs of the United States.
This intention will be realised by allowing Serbia to exchange information on priority infrastructure projects with the United States, while the United States will promote the participation of US companies in infrastructure projects in Serbia and provide information to US private companies on potential project funding opportunities.
The Memorandum also expresses the intention to encourage Serbia to create an investment framework that is open and non-discriminatory and provides equal conditions for all.
Also, both sides confirm the importance of high standards related to health, safety, environment, work, transparency and good governance of infrastructure projects, as well as support for open and responsible tender procedures and procurement procedures, according to a statement by the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure.
