The Serbian government today adopted the Bill on amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, with which the Law on Pension Reduction will be abolished by 30 September 2018 at the latest, as promised.

Among many changes to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, the most important is the abolishment of reduction of pensions, owing to which pensioners will receive their October pension (which is paid out in November) with an increase.
The pensions for the months before and including September 2018 will be paid in accordance with provisions of the Law on Provisional Regulation of Payment of Pensions.
The new law will stipulate a legal basis that will allow the government to increase pensions in accordance with economic flows and financial possibilities of the budget of the Republic of Serbia.
In addition, the method of calculating the amount of the premature retirement pensions for those with beneficiary years of service, who retire with reduced pensions, will be modified in such a way so as to make it more favourable for the pensioners.
