Mihajlovic said in an interview with the Chinese National Television on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the launch of the One Belt, One Road initiative that it is no longer just an initiative, but the largest global project connecting civilizations and giving the opportunity to share ideas, knowledge and culture.
The most important result of this project is linking and I believe that these results will be more and more visible, she underlined and recalled that Serbia was among the first to sign the Strategic Cooperation Agreement and the memorandum with the China on the development of this initiative, of which it is part today.
Speaking about the project of modernisation of the Belgrade-Budapest railroad, Mihajlovic pointed out that in addition to investment, the exchange of knowledge is also of great importance, because this is the first fast railway track for the speed of up to 200 kilometres per hour, while at the moment a train trip from Belgrade to Budapest takes more than eight hours.
Serbia and China cooperate on many projects, such as investment in Smederevo Steelworks, development of industrial zones, the port of Smederevo, and there are opportunities for new projects for the development of the Port of Belgrade, as well as in the field of agriculture and in all areas where technology is involved.
China and Serbia have, above all, a long friendly relationship and increasingly good economic cooperation, and Serbia sees itself as a loyal strategic partner and bridge between China and Europe. It was not by chance that the first major project of the Chinese companies in Serbia was to build a bridge over the Danube, Mihajlovic said.
According to her, our country is grateful for the stance of China on the Kosovo-Metohija issue, just as Serbia supports the One China policy.
China has always been our friend. This friendship hard as steel between Serbia, which is small, but located in an important place, and China, is not only the friendship of the two presidents, but is also felt among citizens, she underlined.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that since the visa restrictions for citizens of China have been lifted and a direct flight between Belgrade and Beijing has been introduced, more and more Chinese tourists are coming to Serbia and our country has much to show to the citizens of China.
This interview has been made on the same day when President of China Xi Jinping should also address the Chinese public on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the launching of the One Belt, One Road initiative.
