Importance of continuing dialogue with media, journalistic associations

The second meeting of the Coordination Group of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for Cooperation with the Media and the Team for Dialogue, consisting of representatives of nine media and journalistic associations, was held yesterday in the government of Serbia.
It was concluded that it is necessary to continue the dialogue between the representatives of the executive authorities and media and journalistic associations in order to improve and improve the media scene in Serbia.
The dialogue with media and journalistic associations three months ago was initiated by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, after which a new working group was formed to create a media strategy, which in the meantime started to work. At yesterday's meeting, a lot of time was devoted to the current case of the Juzne vesti portal.
Representatives of media and journalistic associations requested information on this case, and representatives of the government body said that the tax inspectors acted exclusively in accordance with the tax regulations and applicable legal regulations during the control of the work of this portal.
Representatives of six media and journalist associations, who are members of the Dialogue Team, requested that in the upcoming period issues be resolved from the media sphere in order to improve the situation on the media scene.
In line with the topic launched at one of the first meetings, representatives of the Coordination Group presented a solution for the issue of VAT collection for co-financing projects of public interest in the field of public information.
Namely, by publishing the Opinion on the website of the Ministry of Finance it was specified that projects in the area of public information were exempted from VAT payments.
In order to achieve full transparency in the work and presentation of the public, the issues of relevance, as well as the attitudes of the participants in the meeting on these topics, have been agreed that the minutes of the Coordination Group meetings and the dialogue dialogue are published on the website of the Government of Serbia. All participants of the meeting agreed that it is important to cultivate the culture of dialogue and have committed themselves to taking care that their media appearances do not jeopardise the dialogue.
