After the meeting, at a joint news conference, Dacic welcomed Zacharova and her visit, which was arranged after an agreement with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is also an honorary guest of the Guca Bunch of Trumpets.
Zacharova is supporting Serbia, a great friend of our country, and it always shows, he pointed out, and reminded of the historical closeness of two peoples and two countries, which had only friendly relations.
The First Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Zaharova for supporting the defence of the sovereignty and integrity of Serbia, as well as for supporting the international public scene.
Expressing gratitude on the invitation to visit Serbia, Zacharova pointed to the historic ties connecting the two countries, stressing that she will use this opportunity to get to know even more of Serbia, both historically and culturally.
She said that Russia's position on Kosovo was consistent and based on international law, respect for the sovereignty of Serbia and its domestic legislation.
We do not deviate from this consistent position, Zacharova said, and reiterated that Russia will act with respect to the decision of the Serbian people.
We will not accept as a fact the change of borders after the Second World War, nor everything related to the eradication of historical facts in the latest history. We will not agree with that, she stressed.
Zacharova at the same time stated that the Kosovo issue is an internal issue, but it is a long-standing international problem, with the remark that no one has abolished the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and that Russia is committed to the respect of international law.
