Government extends list of VAT-reduced goods and services

The government has established a bill amending the Law on Value-Added Tax (VAT), which includes a list of goods and services that will be taxed at a special VAT rate of 8 percent.
The list includes medicines, meat and fish, honey, cereals, sunflower, soy, sugar beet, cattle feed, live cattle, fares for cultural events and sporting events.
The government also reduced VAT for first transfer of ownership rights for newly built apartments.
The proposal also stipulates the refund of VAT to traditional churches and religious communities for goods and services paid in the country as well as for their imported goods.
