Kuburovic to attend session of Venice Commission

Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic will participate tomorrow at the 115th plenary session of the European Commission for Democracy through Law - the Venice Commission, which will be held on 22-23 June in Venice.
Kuburovic will have the opportunity to present once again the draft amendments to the Constitution in the field of justice, which was forwarded to the Venice Commission in April.
The Action Plan for Chapter 23 envisages as one of its measures amendments to the Constitution in the field of justice in order to strengthen the independence of the judiciary and the Prosecutor’s Office, as well as their responsibilities.
During 2017 and in early 2018, two rounds of public debate were held, after which the Ministry of Justice drafted the amendments to the Constitution in the field of the judiciary.
The draft was forwarded to the Venice Commission in mid-April for an opinion, which will give its recommendations to Serbia after its regular June session, the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.
