Liberia withdraws recognition of so-called Kosovo

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic received today Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gbehzohngar Milton Findley, who handed him a note informing Serbia of Liberia’s withdrawal of recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.
At a joint news conference with Findlay, Dacic expressed immense gratitude to Liberia for understanding the position of Serbia, pointing out that this is very important for our country, but also for the overall dialogue process, as it shows that all parties must make efforts in order to reach a fair and compromise solution.
The First Deputy Prime Minister underlined that this is proof that the process of withdrawing the recognition of the so-called Kosovo is in full swing.
He explained that Liberia recognised Kosovo with a 2008 decision, but that it has now annulled that decision while a dialogue under the auspices of the EU is in course because it does not want to be placed on either side.
Dacic and Findley today signed six cooperation agreements between the two countries in various areas.
He said he had reached agreement with Liberia's foreign minister that the countries consult each other and coordinate their activities in the international field, adding that Liberia said that it would agree with our country on the most important issues for us, especially Kosovo-Metohija.
Findlay pointed out that the government of Liberia recognised the fact that Belgrade and Pristina negotiate under the auspices of the EU, and that is why Liberia withdraws the recognition of Kosovo's independence while the talks are in progress.
