Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with Swiss Economy Minister Josef Deiss and stressed during the meeting that the Serbian government is committed to European integration and that talks on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement are due to begin soon.
Kostunica said that the EBRD Annual Meeting in Belgrade, attended by over 3,000 guests, is one confirmation of all Serbia’s recent achievements as well as opportunity for foreign investors to get acquainted with possibilities of investing in Serbia.
Deiss stressed that Switzerland supports European orientation of Serbia-Montenegro and he added that the announced signing of an agreement on avoiding double taxation and investment protection will help to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.
Kostunica also said that a solution for Kosovo-Metohija must be in line with the basic international principle of the inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia-Montenegro.
He said that standards must be achieved first and that their assessment must be thorough and accurate and that it is necessary to create conditions for the return of the displaced Serb population.
Deiss said that it is very important that Belgrade has shown readiness to seek a solution for Kosovo-Metohija through a dialogue.
Kostunica thanked him for the humanitarian aid that Switzerland has sent to Serbia-Montenegro.
