Nela Kuburovic, 2nd right, at today's EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Forum
Kuburovic emphasised that the efficiency and independence of the judiciary are the cornerstone of the rule of law in every country, adding that it implies its responsibility.
The forthcoming amendments to the Constitution, among other things, should also raise the issue of the disciplinary responsibility of the holders of judicial functions, she said, and reminded that the Ministry initiated the process of consultations with civil society organisations regarding changes to the highest legal act concerning the judiciary.
According to Kuburovic, a public debate is under way, which should result in the best solutions on the manner of appointing and appointing the holders of judicial functions, their expertise, as well as the competencies and composition of the High Judicial Council and the State Prosecutorial Council.
