Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic met today with Regional Coordinator of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Peter Van der Auverert and Head of the Office of this organisation in Serbia, Lidija Markovic.
On this occasion, Djordjevic thanked for the excellent cooperation and overall support provided by the International Organization for Migration to the Government of the Republic of Serbia during the migration crisis in providing humane conditions for the stay of migrants in our country.
Van der Auverert praised the policy of the Serbian government towards migrants and stressed that Serbia is an example of a responsible and humane approach to the problem, and that although it is not a full member of the European Union, Serbia properly promotes European values.
Djordjevic said that the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs is preparing a number of new projects and platforms, whose aim is further support to the vulnerable categories of migrants, in particular to children.
