Joksimovic, Frattini agree Serbia deserves to be part of EU

Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic today spoke with President of the Italian Society for International Organisation Franco Frattini on the relationship between Serbia and the EU, the process of its accession to the European Union, the reforms that are being implemented, the situation in the region and other important issues.

Joksimovic said that in the current phase of negotiations with the Union, Serbia has opened ten chapters, two of which are temporarily closed.
She expressed the expectation that by the end of the year, we will open several other chapters for which we are ready, especially chapters 6, 30 and 33, which relate to companies' rights, economic relations with foreign countries and financial and budgetary provisions.
Joksimovic and Frattini estimated that the European Union, in supporting Serbia's position, should clearly say that the stability of the region is significant for this part of Europe, but also for the Union itself.
Frattini said that the reforms implemented in Serbia gave concrete results, that they are in the function of the development of the economy – primarily through new investments and a stable macroeconomic environment.
