The Serbian Ministry of Interior stated today that Minister Dragan Jocic is on a two-day visit to the Hungarian Ministry of Interior in Budapest, following an invitation from the Hungarian Minister Monika Lamperth to attend the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the International Law Enforcement Academy.
Ministers Lamperth and Jocic agreed during the meeting that cooperation between the police units of the two countries is satisfactory and that agreements should be made to intensify cooperation in curbing organised crime and border control operations. The signing of a bilateral policing agreement is expected soon, the statement announced.
The position of the Hungarian minority in Serbia was also discussed. The two officials agreed that while tensions do exist, appropriate measures are being taken to reduce them.
