The meeting was also attended by Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Ivana Dulic-Markovic, Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, Vice-President of the Vojvodina Executive Council Gabor Lodi and provincial Secretary of Science and Technology Dragoslav Petrovic.
It was concluded that cooperation between representatives of the Serbian government and the provincial Executive Council in repairing flood damage in central Banat and the securing of aid to the endangered population was performed well and done appropriately. It was also agreed that all executive bodies will continue to monitor the situation in the flood ravaged municipalities and propose additional damage control measures.
Further emphasis, in accordance with the Serbian government’s Conclusion, was placed on the fact that all damages caused by this natural disaster in the central Banat area will be fully repaired.
The principal element of the Action Plan for flood damage repair includes the formation of a special expert commission that will consist of competent state and provincial institution representatives, and who are charged with determining the extent of the damages, and make an overview of the total number of flooded and damaged objects, agricultural areas, and loss of livestock.
Proposed projects in the Action Plan also include reconstruction of the power grid, town planning projects for the villages of Jasa Tomic and Medja, as well as road network repairs and possible housing projects.
It was agreed at the meeting that water utility companies will be asked to make a detailed project plan for draining the soil through gravitation methods and a system of mobile pumping stations, and a project of health and sanitation protection will also be drawn up, with special emphasis on the revitalisation of waterworks and wells.
