Water level in Leskovac area on decline

The Serbian government’s crisis response committee stated today that the wave that struck the Leskovac area last night is retreating.
There is no danger of a further increase in the water level, the crisis response committee stated on the basis of hydrologists’ report.
Services of state water management company Srbijavode and local water utilities are on alert.
In the next 24 hours, the water level in Banat and western Romania may rise due to forecasted abundant rainfall.
According to the crisis response committee, the situation in Banat is stable. The water in the flooded areas is being directed through amelioration canals to the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal.
