The Serbian government adopted at its session today a Conclusion on the Letter of Intent to accept the revised objectives and measures of economic policy for the period 2016-2017, agreed with the IMF in the context of the fourth and fifth revision of the precautionary arrangement, as well as the text of the Memorandum of economic and financial measures with a technical memorandum of understanding.
Serbia remains committed to the implementation of measures envisaged by the arrangement. It describes the progress to date and provides an overview of the economic measures that lie ahead.
Serbia has successfully implemented and exceeded the previous targets for the fiscal deficit and the primary current expenditures, has made considerable progress in addressing the important issues of strategic state enterprises and reduced fiscal imbalances.
The letter, in addition to good results, highlighted the intention of the new government of Serbia to remain committed to the policies under this programme.
The Executive Board of Directors on 30 August will make a conclusion on the fourth and fifth review, which was completed during the last visit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Belgrade.
