Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and President of the Vojvodina Executive Council Bojan Pajtic talked today about the situation in central Banat and agreed that the cooperation established between representatives of the Serbian government and the Vojvodina Executive Council in the government's Crisis Centre has been successful and resulted in the full stabilisation of the situation in endangered areas.
On Monday the joint Crisis Centre will work out an action plan containing all measures to be taken after the cleanup of flooded areas, including construction of housing facilities for families whose houses were destroyed, as well as payment of compensations to physical and legal persons who suffered damage.
During the meeting, two officials highlighted the importance of the Conclusion brought by the Serbian government by which the government assumed full responsibility for repairing the entire damage caused by the floods in central Banat, in line with the Law on the use of funds for sanation and protection from natural disasters.
A precise and final assessment of damage will be made by the Crisis Centre only after the soil has dried up and the water receded. The Crisis Centre will hold a session on Monday that will be attended by Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and President of the Vojvodina Executive Council Bojan Pajtic.
