Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica told the FoNet news agency that the 52 percent first quarter rise in exports is good for Serbia as a whole and a joint achievement of the government and economy. He assessed that the growth of exports is of exceptional importance and comes at the same time as the country is reducing its imports by 11 percent.

The Prime Minister pointed out several positive achievements including the positive feasibility study, as well as this increase in exports combined with a substantial volume of first quarter direct foreign investments. Also, he noted that the government is active in the adoption of laws bringing the country closer to Europe and in the creation of a legal climate that continues to allow for new investments.
Kostunica said that while the government is striving to create favourable working conditions, it recognises that it is still difficult to live and work in Serbia. However, he said that this will lead to the fulfilment of the common goal of a stable country, which will provide better living conditions for all citizens.
