Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and Ambassador of the United States to Serbia Kyle Scott spoke today on key aspects of bilateral military cooperation and the overall development of relations between the two countries.
Djordjevic and Scott highlighted during the meeting the importance of the recent bilateral defence consultations between the United States and Serbia.
In addition to already developed cooperation with the Ohio National Guard through the State Partnership Programme, projects such as the completion of equipping the centre for training units for multinational operations at the base "Jug" and the development of engineering capacities of the Serbian Army to participate in peacekeeping operations, it was pointed out that there is a common interest to agree on new areas of cooperation.
Cooperation in the area of improving the modalities of public procurement for the needs of the defence system was discussed.
Djordjevic pointed to the active contribution of Serbia to global security through participation in peacekeeping operations of the United Nations and the European Union, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
