The Commission to conduct the sale of assets of the Smederevo steelworks opened on 5 April this year the financial offer of the only bidder in the process, Chinese company He Steel (former English name: HBIS).
In the presence of representatives of He Steel, the Commission found that the bid was submitted in accordance with the public invitation and that it meets all the requirements.
He Steel has given a binding offer to buy all 98 property units for a total cost of €46 million, and this offer is above the minimum price stipulated in the public invitation.
At the proposal of the Commission, the Ministry of Economy decided to declare the only bidder as the buyer.
The government also adopted the Conclusion on the establishment of the Programme of reconstruction and improvement of public facilities in the field of education, health and social care.
The public buildings in Serbia in the given areas had been mainly built during or between the two world wars or after the war, so the need for their complete restoration and improvement is urgent.
However, there is no comprehensive assessment of the condition of these facilities, or database on the chronology of investments.
The funding for the renovations will be provided from international development assistance, financial and non-financial donations and loans.
