During the meeting, Djordjevic and Chepurin underlined that cooperation between Serbia and Russia has been intensified both in quantity and quality, and that this trend will be maintained in the future.
Djordjevic thanked the Russian Ambassador on the strong support to foreign policy priorities of Serbia.
He stressed that full membership in the European Union is our strategic goal, noting that Serbia will continue to pursue an independent foreign policy in its own interest.
The Minister said that our country wants to cooperate with countries and organisations around the world that show interest, but only on the basis of equal cooperation and mutual respect and appreciation.
Djordjevic pointed out that Serbia fully implements the policy of military neutrality, and stressed that the active participation of our country in the Partnership for Peace programme in no way represents aspiration for full membership in NATO.
He underlined that Serbia is the regional leader in the participation in the UN and EU peacekeeping operations, and that we will continue to give our full support to building peace and stability around the world.
