Serbia becomes reliable partner in building regional peace, democracy, and stability

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica has said that Europe sent good news to Serbia today in the form of the confirmation of a positive feasibility study, and he added that he is pleased to be in a position to congratulate all the citizens and state institutions on behalf of the Serbian government, given that this represents the first important product of our joint efforts to arrange our country in a proper way and to lead it towards the European Union.

“Lots of work is ahead of us, but today, we know very well what Serbia’s objectives are, we know which way we are going, and we know for sure that we will do the work right. In the forthcoming period, we must put even more effort and work even harder in order to revive the economy, arrange the country judicially, and show that we can be a part Europe on an equal footing with others”, said Kostunica.

The Prime Minister stressed that Serbia is once again becoming a reliable and important partner in the building of peace, democracy, and sustainable stability in the region. “We are, actually, only taking up the place that naturally belongs to us in the overall development of this part of Europe. We are ready and able to assume our share of responsibility and to make our contribution to the entire region’s progress and integration into the European Union”, said Kostunica.

According to Kostunica, Serbia’s message, which is believed to be universally acceptable, is that everyone in the region must stand for European principles and values and that the people must work together in order to preserve stability, which certainly means that international borders in the region must not be changed.

“We know that Serbia belongs in Europe, because our culture and our tradition are profoundly European. We perceive Europe and European values as something ours, something that Serbia has always contributed to and to which it will contribute in the future as well”, Kostunica said in response to the confirmation of the positive feasibility study.
