Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica pointed out today in talks with delegations of the Lazarevac municipality and the Vreoci community the importance of the Kolubara coal basin for the Serbian power supply system. He underlined that the development plan of surface mines should be in accordance with ecological criteria, and that the competent ministries, Electrical Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) and the Lazarevac municipality should jointly work on this.
Representatives of Lazarevac and Vreoci said that the Kolubara coal basin is vitally important to this municipality and its residents, the majority of whom are employed in the company. They expressed the desire to actively participate in finding a solution that would be in the best interest of both Kolubara and Vreoci and Lazarevac.
Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov, EPS Director Vladimir Djordjevic and Director of Kolubara Dragan Tomic took part in the talks.
