Minister without portfolio responsible for European integration Jadranka Joksimovic and Minister for Europe at the UK Foreign Office David Lidington pointed today during a meeting in Manchester to the importance of cooperation between the two countries, adding that there is room for its further improvement.
Lidington underlined that Serbia has the support of Great Britain in the EU accession process.
The officials reached an agreement that the reform process which Serbia is undertaking is difficult and full of challenges, but the end result will be very important in terms of improving the functionality of the state and increasing the living standards of citizens.
At the meeting it was highlighted that it is very important that EU candidate countries implement reforms in the field of the rule of law and justice as essential foundations of democracy.
Joksimovic underlined that both the adoption of these laws and their full implementation is very important for the Serbian government, as that is the essence of reforms.
