In today’s meeting with Japanese Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Itsunori Onodera, Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica stressed the importance of the good bilateral cooperation that exists between Serbia-Montenegro and Japan and he said that Japan shows significant interest in the situation in Serbia-Montenegro and the region.
Kostunica said that human rights of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija are endangered and he stressed that standards must be accurately defined. He said that a solution for the province should be broad autonomy within the borders of Serbia and the state union and he added that any change of borders would threaten regional stability.
Kostunica expressed gratitude for the Japanese government’s donations, primarily its assistance in health sector and the project of supplying equipment to key Serbian health centres.
Onodera said that the relations between the two countries are very good and he pointed out that Serbia plays a key role in the regional stability. He said that the Japanese government will continue to provide assistance to Serbia in the areas where the assistance is needed.
