Stefanovic said on this occasion that Serbia is handling well the refugee crisis, and expressed the hope that Europe will soon come out with a package of aid and that our country will know the exact amount of funds it can receive.
He said that Serbia is not a rich country, but wants to be part of the European solution, and wanted to know how Germany is planning to participate in solving the current refugee crisis.
Roth said that Germany expressed gratitude and appreciation to the people of Serbia for the assistance they have been providing daily to refugees and commended the good organisation of the government of Serbia in addressing this problem.
Stefanovic briefed Roth about the daily activities of the Ministry of the Interior in attempting to deter potential asylum seekers from Serbia, through public campaigns and informing potential asylum seekers that Germany treats Serbia as a safe country, which is why such requests are refused almost one hundred percent.
Roth underlined that despite the difficult economic situation in the country, seeking asylum is not the right way.
He stated that Serbia can count on Germany’s assistance in tackling the problem of refugees, reads a statement by the Ministry of the Interior.
