The statement recalls that the government of Macedonia declared yesterday the state of emergency in the southern and northern border areas of the country, due to a new wave of migrants from the Middle East who are coming from the direction of Greece.
According to the information of the diplomatic and consular representative offices of Serbia in Macedonia and Greece, this decision has not caused changes in transport schedules on the main routes and border crossings, apart from the increased presence of the army and police.
The Ministry warns citizens of Serbia, who intend to travel to Macedonia, to take precautions, and in particular not to receive passengers - hitchhikers in their vehicles because under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Macedonia this may be interpreted as the commission of the offence “smuggling of migrants ", which is punished by several years in prison.
