Improving cooperation between Serbia, Switzerland in field of defence

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic spoke with Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces Lieutenant General Andre Blattmann about the possibilities for advancement of cooperation in the field of defence.

Gasic pointed out that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces are especially interested in Switzerland’s practices from the participation in the projects of the European Defence Agency.
He underlined his expectations that the cooperation with the European Defence Agency would improve interoperability with EU member states, and allow for the strengthening of the national defence industry and research potential of Serbian institutes, and the technological modernization of the armed forces, and thus the improvement of military and defence capabilities of Serbia.
Considering that Switzerland has a highly developed military industry, it was noted that this was also an area in which all forms of cooperation could be developed.
Although not an EU member, Switzerland supports the strategic orientation of Serbia to join the EU, and it ranks among the most important countries by the amount of donor and humanitarian aid to Serbia.
The Minister thanked once again for the support that Serbia had received from Switzerland during last year's floods.
