Nikolic said that the Serbian Chairmanship of the OSCE set combating human trafficking as one of the priorities.
He stressed the importance of the topic of the conference, because we face today with a new form of mixed migration which includes both refugees and asylum-seekers and economic migrants, who are at risk of human trafficking and various forms of exploitation.
He stressed that the most vulnerable category of migrants are children who travel alone without a parent or a guardian and young girls and women.
Nikolic said that all the states of the OSCE should strengthen cooperation in the fight against human trafficking and protect victims.
During the conference, the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior met with Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Yuri Fedotov with whom he discussed joint cooperation and UNODC programme for South Eastern Europe, which will be presented in October.
They also agreed that support to the relevant authorities of the Republic of Serbia continues in order to prepare for negotiations with the EU under Chapter 24, according to a statement by the Ministry of the Interior.
